OPENING NIGHT [The Second Woman]

At the centre of this work is a virtuosic rendering of the soundtrack of John Cassavetes film Opening Night. Kath Duggan attempts to articulate the voices of all the films characters as she hears them through Bluetooth headphones. The work becomes a rehearsal for a film that already exists, an incantation, a possession not just of a singular presence but of the absent film itself.

The audience enter through a parallel space; a constructed dressing room full of flowers and bottles of champagne in which a second woman waits.

Soundtrack: Roberto Sassi

Duration: 2h 24m
